A principios de este mes, 4AD publicó una edición especial del 25 aniversario del álbum seminal de Pixies, Doolittle. Ahora, el frontman Black Francis ha anunciado que uno de sus otros proyectos, Frank Black & the Catholics, tendrá una reedición también. El 23 de marzo, Cooking Vinyl lanzará Frank Black & the Catholics: The Complete Recordings, una colección de siete CD de versiones remasterizadas de los seis álbumes de estudio de la banda, además de un disco extra. Un pre-pedido a través de PledgeMusic viene con varios puntos de bonificación.
Los álbumes incluidos se encuentra su homónimo de 1998, Pistolero de 1999, Dog in the Sand del 2001, Black Letter Days y Devil’s Workshop del 2002, y Show Me Your Tears del 2003. El disco adicional se llama True Blue, y contiene demos de las sesiones para Black Letter Days. La portada del box set la pueden encontrar arriba, con un retrato de Charlotte Gainsbourg.
En total, el sistema de caja tendrá más de cien pistas, pero no busca que sean ordenadas cronológicamente. En cambio, Black dice que las canciones se muestran en orden alfabético; «Se siente como una aproximación a la aleatoriedad», explicó en un comunicado de prensa,» y es una manera de asignar al azar a algo, especialmente si se trata de títulos». Sostiene, además, que a través de este enfoque,» nos alejamos de la preciosidad de los LPs que se apagaron y más sobre el cuerpo de trabajo, los buenos tiempos que tuvimos».
