La banda grabó su séptimo álbum de estudio en el estudio de Long Pond de Aaron Dessner en Hudson Valley, Nueva York, así como en otros lugares como Los Ángeles, París y Berlín. También se produjo el álbum con producción adicional de Matt Berninger y Bryce Dessner.
