Gojira se presentó el fin de semana cuando su guitarrista Christian Andreu se vio envuelto en llamas durante su presentación en el Festival de Música y Arte Sonic Temple en Columbus, Ohio.

El guitarrista se vio obligado a abandonar el escenario con pequeñas quemaduras en la cara cuando una ráfaga de viento devolvió el piro del escenario de la banda a Andreu. Sin embargo, como un soldado, regresó y realizó el resto del set.

El vocalista de Lamb of God , Randy Blythe, que había actuado en el escenario con Gojira en el festival, relató el incidente, escribiendo en Instagram:

“Ayer, en @sonictemplefestival, mis hermanos en Gojira subieron al escenario y destruyeron el lugar. Perdí la noción del tiempo y olvidé cuándo tocaban. Cuando me di cuenta de que estaban en marcha, salí corriendo al escenario con mi cámara. Llegué justo cuando estaban tocando «Backbone» – su tecnología @notoriouswog era como «¡Aquí está tu micrófono!» – Me quité las gafas, colgué mi cámara y salí corriendo al escenario con chanclas (que de inmediato eché) – Difícil de rockear en flops) y comencé a cantar. De repente, se escuchó una ENORME explosión de llamas. ¡ESCARÓ LA MIERDA fuera de mí, porque no sabía que tenían Pyro! De todos modos, terminé de cantar, tomé algunas fotos y luego corrí a mi camerino para obtener una lente de cámara diferente. Cuando regresé, Woggsy dijo: «¡Christian acaba de recibir un estallido de fuego en la cara!», El viento estuvo muy mal ayer, y sopló el piro justo en la cara de Christian- ¡GRACIAS A DIOS HABÍA CERRADO sus ojos en ese segundo! Lo miré y todavía estaba tocando, sobre todo con los ojos cerrados, obviamente lastimado y luciendo enojado. Entre canciones, se acercó, pidió agua y se la tiró a la cara. Luego terminó el set, y los médicos lo atendieron. Estará bien (excepto por un poco de peeling y falta de cabello y cejas) pero eso fue aterrador y pudo haber sido muy, muy mal «.

Yesterday at @sonictemplefestival, my brothers in Gojira took the stage & destroyed the place. I lost track of time & forgot when they were playing- when I realized they were on, I went running to the stage with my camera. I got there right as they were playing “Backbone”- their tech @notoriouswog was like “Here’s your mic!”- I took off my glasses, put down my camera, & ran out onstage wearing flip-flops (which I immediately kicked off- hard to rock in flops) & started singing. Suddenly there was a HUGE blast of flame- SCARED THE SHIT outta me, ‘cause I didn’t know they had pyro! Anyways, I got done singing, shot a few photos, then ran to my dressing room to get a different camera lens. When I got back, Woggsy said “Christian just caught a blast of flame to the face!”- the wind was REALLY bad yesterday, & it blew the pyro right into Christian’s face- THANK GOD HE HAD HIS EYES CLOSED at that second! I looked at him & he was still playing, mostly with his eyes closed, obviously hurting & looking PISSED OFF. In between songs he walked over & asked for water & threw it on his face. Then he finished the set, & medics attended to him. He’s gonna be alright (except for some peeling & missing hair & eyebrows) but that was scary & it could have been really, really bad. Christian caught a full-on #DRACARYS to the face & still did his job. That is some HARD SHIT right there. @jameyjasta, you need to put him in the #HARDHALLOFFAME!!!
