Mediante Instagram, Die Antwoord compartió un video acusando al director de Suicide Squad, David Ayer, de haber copiado / robado el estilo del grupo.

«Cara y Jared nos contaron que cuanto estaban hablando de nosotros en el set, pero ustedes nunca pidieron nuestro permiso expreso de copiarnos», dice parte del mensaje publicado en la red social, junto con un vídeo que muestra ejemplos lado a lado del similar estilo, incluyendo a Ninja Die Antwoord con el Joker de Suicide Squad, así como Yolandi con Harley Quinn.
